-The Lightkeeper is Gone is awesomely dreary-
This demo absolutely blew me away. Gameplay, graphics, story, everything! The ambience is probably what impressed me the most because Zarya Games set an incredibly eerie and drab setting in the stormy intro sequence. The 2nd day (which, importantly, DOES include fishing) basically turns everything around when the sun is out to an absolutely beautiful scene on the island that this game takes place on. Coming in at around 30 minutes, give or take, this demo gives you a whole lot to sink your teeth in to.
The PSX landscape features tons of greens, greys, and browns, crunchy textures (which are relatively high resolution at times), puppet-like models, and lo-fi foliage. And then there's the lighthouse itself, firstly there's operating it, which is extremely fun, and then it looks fantastic, especially when it activates and you see the white-noise looking light.
The eerie plot, which reminds me a lot of The Lighthouse (2019) by Robert Eggers, has us taking the job of a lighthouse keeper, replacing the last one that disappeared. We live all alone on this huge island, operating the lighthouse, fishing for survival, and doing other miscellaneous duties while a cellar, whos key was lost by the previous keeper, taunts us with its secrets.
I seriously cannot wait for the full release of this game!
