THE FERRY isn't very scary, but that's okay.
The ferry is a loop-based atmospheric horror game carried mostly by it's fun story and atmosphere. The only problem is that neither to story or the atmosphere are necessarily that scary, resulting in probably the least overtly scary horror game I've played so far this month. I enjoyed the gameplay loop the first few times but it did get repetitive and most of your playtime really is just holding down left click while looking at a lever.
Again, THE FERRY isn't really the scariest game I've ever played, but is the necessarily a bad thing? No, it doesn't. Some people enjoy watching others play horror games because they can't handle the scare and this could be a game for that crowd! Maybe it isn't for the seasoned horror gamers, the ones who barely even get caught by blind jump-scares; but that doesn't mean this game can't have an audience.
Although it isn't the scariest game, it also isn't the most fun. I think this game could've been a lot better if the gameplay loop was a little more diverse, maybe a driver could've done something unpredictable to shake things up, maybe a new area could've been unlocked, maybe there could've more exploring in the water--like an actual steering mechanic, I don't know. I do know that as this game is, it's fine, it just could've been better is all!
A solid effort here from olinkalex, I had a good time playing through THE FERRY.
