"Microbial Sector" by MadBug //Day 12

Microbial Sector is a disturbing bio-horror experience.

This game is scary a way few others are, MadBug makes you experience the day-to-day of a biological researcher studying diseases and other invasive lifeforms. A very unique take on PSX horror that keeps you feeling unsettled all the way through, with it’s immaculate shaders, modeling, and texturing. I guess this game also doubles as a job-sim, which we've seen a lot of in the past week.

In this relatively short game you start out in an elevator with 20-some floors and you are not outright told to go, which is a little bit of a theme that continues throughout the game. My first playthrough I clicked through the floors and ended up leaving a going home, ending the game after less than a minute. When you make your way into the office you’re given short instructions on what you do, take things off the conveyor belt, scan them, identify viruses, repeat. After a few the routine breaks, which led me to the ending that I don’t want to spoil because it’s a fun one.

As I mentioned the graphics are really on point in this game, with the fine texturing on full display with the use of the microscope mechanic and the great modeling shown on the scans. The tiny bugs crawling around the cog was a highlight of the graphics. The shaders do amazing work with the lights dithering the textures as you move around.
